Jenson Button, the former world champion of Formula 1, recently visited Singapore, but not for a fast race on the track!
It was an exciting adventure that went above the norm for vacationing. Button’s tour, which he took in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), was a symphony of high-octane thrills that showed off a side of Singapore that symbolises endless energy and adventure.
In a captivating partnership for STB’s “Made in Singapore” global campaign, Button’s out-of-the-ordinary vacation completely changed the idea of a leisurely get-away. The journey began with breath-taking scenes: soaring over Sentosa’s sun-kissed beaches, descending a gigantic swing at Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett from an incredible 45-meter height, and hitting dizzying speeds of 120 km/h.
Button’s adventures, nevertheless, were anything but typical. Button chose to take on an exhilarating race at HyperDrive, the best indoor electric go-kart circuit in Asia, located at The Palawan at Sentosa. He handled the three-level course with agility and style. And in a surprising turn of events, he entered unknown territory in a rigid-hulled buoyancy boat (RHIB) and saw the Marina Bay Street Circuit from a viewpoint that thrill-seekers don’t often see.
Button’s visit coincided with the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2023, which was a fortuitous occasion that marked his seventh return to Singapore following his final competitive race in 2016. This trip wasn’t only about speed for Button; it was also an opportunity to fully experience Singapore’s diverse array of customs, civilizations, and delectable foods.
