Or if you are looking for a fun and adventurous trip, drive down to Sekinchan and enjoy the jaw-dropping views of paddy fields that surround the town.
Drive to Klang in the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric
To prepare for the long journey ahead, we recharged the Volvo C40 Recharge overnight at home to ensure we had a sufficient amount of battery for our trip to Klang & Sekinchan. The next day, before we started our journey to Klang, we entered our first location into Volvo’s Google Map feature. This remarkable feature offers a technology that will show you the distance of your location to your point of interest, the time taken to reach as well as the estimated percentage of battery you will have when you reach.
With Volvo’s advanced air purifier system, we were able to enjoy clean air throughout our journey. The car’s air purifier system prevents up to 80 percent of hazardous PM 2.5 particles from entering.
Chong Kok Kopitiam
Arriving in Klang, we found parking near The Royal Gallery (Galeri Diraja Sultan Abdul Aziz), our starting point for The Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk, a fantastic guided tour organized by Tourism Selangor. But before diving into the gallery’s treasures, our stomachs needed attention. What better way to begin our Klang adventure than with breakfast at the iconic Chong Kok Kopitiam? Just a stone’s throw away from The Royal Gallery, we savored some delicious “roti bakar” and sipped on aromatic coffee, fueling up for the exciting journey ahead on The Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk.
The Royal Gallery (Galeri Diraja Sultan Abdul Aziz)
Established in 1766 by Bugis Sulawesi Royal Family. The building was designed by the famous British architect, B. Hubback to serve as an administration office for the British. The Royal Gallery boasts numerous rooms, each with its compelling narrative. Opened in 2007, it houses artifacts, informative displays, and a video room for deeper insights into the royal lineage.
Chennai Silk
Following an enlightening visit to the gallery, we proceeded with our Klang walk to Chennai Silk, formerly known as the Olden Chartered Bank of India, Australia, and China. However, today, the building has undergone a transformation into one of the most renowned saree shops in the Klang Valley. Selling an array of different sarees that come in a variety of materials. From silk sarees to cotton sarees, you will be in awe as you get a glimpse of the elegant outfits draped out for you.
Royal Klang Club
Next on The Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk itinerary is the Royal Klang Club, constructed in 1901 as a venue for casual gatherings of British planters, civil servants, and port administrators. Unlike other buildings in the area, the Royal Klang Club draws heavy inspiration from the marine lifestyle. Its interior is adorned with wooden details and intricate decorations reminiscent of a ship’s interior.
The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes
One must not miss when in Klang which is also part of the The Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk is The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes which is situated just a stone’s throw away from the Royal Klang Club. The pristine white church served as a common worship ground for Catholic Chinese and Indian migrants who originally settled in the bustling town of Klang. Built in 1923, the church is heavily influenced by early 20th-century Western architecture with its high ceilings and stained glass that surround the church walls.
Take a stroll along the bustling street of Tengku Kelana Street also commonly known as Little India to do some shopping. The street boasts an extraordinary lineup of Indian stores for your shopping pleasure, each offering a diverse array of Indian novelties.
The Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk offers a complimentary guided tour designed to showcase the charm, character, and distinctive attractions of Klang.
Explore clusters of colonial landmarks, places of worship, educational institutions, the fire station, royal gallery, and a warehouse erected by a local Malay chieftain. For further details about this initiative, please visit the Tourism Selangor website.
Exploring Sekinchan in the Volvo C40 Recharge
Bask in the bountiful nature that surrounds the town of Sekinchan.
The drive to Sekinchan from Klang was about an hour, the journey consisted of the bluest skies and whitest clouds. What better way to enjoy the scenic views than with Volvo’s panoramic roof? The large, fixed panoramic glass roof added an exclusive ambience of airiness and light for everyone in our car. The high-tech, dark-tinted laminated glass gives the most efficient protection from the glare of the scorching sun and UV radiation.
Enjoy the ride, Volvo C40 ensures your safety
Throughout our journey, we blasted our favourite jams through the Harman Kardon system featured in the Volvo C40 Recharge. The Harman Kardon system is a high-performance audio system that comes with a standard of 8 speakers, and 7 channels with a 250W output. During our journey, we also made use of Google Assistant for hands-free help. We easily changed the music by simply saying “Hey Google” to get the party started. In case the music gets pumping and the driver gets too excited to notice the bump, you’re still safe. It’s Volvo, for life! The Volvo C40 Recharge included an automatic seatbelt tightening feature that activated when encountering speed bumps.
Hay! Sekinchan
You can also grab a quick refreshment at cafes nestled in the fields. One such cafe, Hay, sits right by the fields. This cafe allows you to laze by the fields while indulging in the freshest brews and mouthwatering dishes.
Sunset in Pantai Redang
In the evening make your way down to Pantai Redang for some fun in the sun. Walk along the beach while you take in the beautiful scenery of birds flying above you and children playing in the water. Sit on the sand and gaze into the horizon as you watch the sunset in all its glory.
Sky Mirror
This mystery island is one for the books. Sky Mirror is a sandy terrain that stretches over the area making it the perfect place for you to catch those Instagram-able pictures. With its reflective effect, the Sky Mirror beach gives the illusion of a mirror below you as you pose.
Did you know that the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric also has a keyless ignition to put your worries about losing your keys at ease?
With the effortless keyless feature, a simple shift of the gear selector to D or P was all it took to set our journey in motion. Farewell, Sekinchan – it was truly a pleasure experiencing this enchanting destination!
Throughout our journey, we didn’t need to make any stops for charging, yet the entire trip only used up about 60% of the battery. It’s remarkable how electric cars not only save the environment but also money, making them a smart choice for eco-conscious and budget-savvy travelers alike.
Our experience driving the Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric can be summed up in three words: safe, comfortable, and budget-friendly. From its advanced safety features to its luxurious comfort and economical operation, it proved to be an all-around exceptional choice for our journey.
