Else KL is the latest addition to Chinatown KL chic stays for travelers seeking a meaningful and restorative urban getaway.
Else KL opens in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur providing respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Else pays homage to the architectural legacy of the historic landmark it calls home, the Lee Rubber Building, in the middle of Chinatown. At the same time, the hotel embraces contemporary design and a fresh take on the hospitality industry. Guests from the surrounding area and further afield can take advantage of the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and embark on an adventure of discovery and meaningful connection, disconnecting and reconnecting at their own speed.
The facility has been renovated and reused, and it now has 49 guest rooms spread out across 56,000 square feet and seven stories. Else Founders Justin Chen and Javier Perez commissioned local leading designers, artists, and partners to create their vision of conscious hospitality. Studio Bikin, a design firm based in Malaysia, was responsible for the conceptualization of the design and oversaw the restoration, both of which were carried out by Faizah Architect, another renowned Malaysian partner.
“Else is the result of a four-year effort that was realized through the difficulty of the global pandemic and was motivated by the emergence of a new era of travelers. Our design and construction team has a sensitively balanced contrast of new and old with are fined juxtaposition of a pre-war building that has been beautifully preserved and innovative design that encourages all of our guests to explore the property on their own and find secluded nooks and crannies in which to pause and reflect.”
Even though there are many stunning rooms to choose from, we’ve listed them all here to make things easier for you. Rooms are technologically advanced, featuring in-room multi-media tablets and Bluetooth sound systems. Guests can receive Omno sustainable personal care products, LULLA bathroom robes, and Dyson hairdryers in all rooms and suites. Art by Malaysian artists and reading materials by Malaysian writers add a touch of inspiration.
