In budget 2023, the Government started that build new chartered flights to and from east Asia and Middle Asia. The Government and Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad and international airlines will work on new direct flight routes to international destinations. Penangites and Sabahan can travel directly to West Asia and the Middle East from Kota Kinabalu and Penang international airports in 2023.
