The water level rises up to 1.5m high
Just a few days ago, Selangor faced water eruption leaving Malaysian in despair. And now, Kuala Lumpur is faced with an unfortunate event of a heavy flood. Speechless!
The unfortunate event
The wind was blowing strongly accompanied by flashes of lightning which causes some trees to fall and led to minor incidents. Three vehicles were reported to be affected due to the incident at Project Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Batu Muda, and Taman Pusat Kepong.
Some of the main streets of Kuala Lumpur are blocked from being used. This includes Jalan Kuching, Jalan Segambut, Jalan Melaka, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Sultan Ismail.
The latest update
An iconic building like Masjid Jamek is no exception as well. From afar, you can see the water covers the entire area at 360 angles which looks like an island on its own.
Its like history repeated itself.

Further investigations to be done
As of now, the Ministry of Federal Territories is studying on the real cause of the heavy flood which causes such disaster in Kuala Lumpur. In the meantime, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, the Minister of Federal Territories will get an explanation from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur Saliran (JPS) as soon as possible. No more delaying!
Oh, and there was also a rumour saying that the cause of the flood happened because the SMART tunnel didn’t activate on time. However, Annuar suppressed that further investigation will be done before making false claims.
Rescue mission
Besides that, Member of Parliament Ketereh said that he has instructed an operation room to be conducted at Jalan Pekeliling. This step is to ensure smooth journey for the help and rescue operation and also to monitor the affected area closely. While the in charged authorities are trying to find the cause and solutions, some affected individuals are being transported to Pusat Pemindahan Banjir Kelab Sultan Sulaiman.
More affected areas
From 2 in the afternoon yesterday, the rain poured heavily non-stop which causes more areas in Kuala Lumpur to be affected. This includes Lebuh Ampang, Jalan Raja Alang, Kampung Baru, Jalan Semarak, Lorong Ater Leleh 5, and Jalan San Ah Wing, Kampung Semarak. Not to mention other main roads that have been filling up the road ever since yesterday afternoon.
We can only hope for better solutions in order to overcome this situation. Let’s pray for better days.
