It’s all about owning the best styles for the greater good.
Swedish retail brand, Monki is on a mission to create a better and eco-friendly way to enjoy fashion. And for the first time ever, the brand is proud to introduce its very first collection with the Green Machine – a technology that can separate and recycle cotton and polyester blends using a closed-loop of only water, heat, and biodegradable green chemicals. Sounds awesome, right?
The Green Machine system comes from a collaboration between the non-profit H&M Foundation, HKRITA (The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel) and of course, Monki. The brand is the first to test and use this piece of technology so fans of Monki can have a feel of it! To celebrate its first collection using the Green Machine system, the online exclusive range offers a cosy grey tracksuit set with “Respect Your Mother (nature)” embroidered on the separates.
“As a fashion brand, we need to do our part when it comes to closing the loop. With eyes wide open Monki will walk into this climate-decade and be part of the solution.” Says Jenny Fagerlin, Sustainability Director at Monki, “If we can prolong the life of our products for as long as possible and decrease the usage of virgin sources, it’s a huge step in the right direction.”
However, there will be more coming our way soon as the brand aims to create beautiful pieces to strut in by autumn 2021 – so keep a lookout for that! We can definitely foresee this collection in our closet as our favourite loungewear pieces, for sure!
While we wait, you can check out the collection now online.
