Malaysia A-list photographer Patrick who is famously known as Heartpatrick shares with us his creative inspiration from the comfort of his home that guarantees to inspire you (and me definitely)
I remembered that one night before I went to bed, I fell upon Patrick’s beautiful image of Batu Caves’ colourful stairs on Instagram search feed. It was love at first sight indeed! As someone who loves everything about architecture and interior design, it intrigued me to browse his feed further. And from that day on, I have been a great admirer of his work.
Patrick began his photography journey out of a passion for documenting travel stories in 2004. In time, his work expanded into the creative, lifestyle, and conceptual portraits and wedding photography. Isn’t that amazing?
Even though many industries are currently affected by the widespread of #Covid19, Patrick, like most people, has taken the opportunity to be creative at home. Recently, he has been experimenting with miniature toys and everyday object found around the house. With the help of a super sidekick, his mom, Patrick managed to capture a number of mindblowing images that take us to beautiful holiday destinations like Kyoto, Japan and Mount Fuji, Japan. The result? I’m honestly speechless!
As you continue reading, you’ll see what I mean.
What is your favorite part of traveling?
“My biggest passion in life is to travel and explore the world. And you can imagine how torturing it must be for not being able to do that in this current situation. As such, I started experimenting with using everyday objects and materials found around the house to try and mimic some of the beautiful sceneries and sights that I have come across in my past holidays.”
Does being a travel photographer help to contribute creativity to your current work at home?
“Practising photography while I was traveling has helped me to appreciate what are the elements that are important in making a good shot. This includes the weather and type of natural lighting occurring in the scene, as well as interesting focal points that may consist of objects or human activities that help give a story to the photo.”
List 3 of your favourite work you did during the MCO period.
What are the amazing skills you have improvised as a photographer while creating content at home?
“Seeing the potential of everyday objects found at home to recreate the elements found in the landscape and outdoor sceneries, from the common paper bag, baskets to fruits and vegetables.”
Can you share with us some of your easy photography tips that our readers can follow to create such creative artworks?
“Start with finding small toys or miniatures at home and experiment with shooting it interacting with everyday objects.”
Last but not least, here are some of his amazing travel photography shots that are just so b-e-a-u-tiful!
