466 rooms, a retro Italian restaurant, a spice-themed rooftop bar, and a design brief that takes Malaysia’s rainforests seriously. Here’s what you actually need to know.
There are hotels that open in KL and you notice them on Instagram. Then there are hotels that open and you immediately start rearranging your weekend plans. Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur is firmly in the second category.

It opened in late 2025 in the Tun Razak Exchange — better known as TRX — and it is already doing several things that no other hotel in KL is doing. A spice-themed rooftop bar that is the only one of its kind in Malaysia. A retro Italian-American restaurant transporting you to the 1970s on the 25th floor. A design theme called “Botanic Beyond Aesthetics” that sounds like a tagline but actually translates into something genuinely beautiful when you walk through the lobby. And complimentary bicycle rentals, because apparently they thought of everything.
The hotel’s name comes from two Malay words — “Naluri” meaning instinct, and “Ria” meaning joy. Following your instinct toward joy.

The Design — And Why It Is Worth Paying Attention To
Kimpton brought in Hassell Studio — an award-winning design firm — and gave them a brief rooted in Malaysia’s natural landscape. The result is a hotel where the lobby feels like breathing. Earthy tones, organic textures, local art, soaring ceilings and lush greenery that manage to feel genuinely calming without tipping into resort-spa cliché. The textiles, stonework and botanical details throughout are a proper attempt at place-making — this does not look like a hotel that could be in Singapore or Dubai. It looks like it belongs in KL.

The Rooms — Which One Should You Book
There are six room categories, from the Essential Room at 30sqm to a Presidential Suite at 195sqm with its own steam room, jacuzzi, and his-and-hers vanities. For most people visiting for a KL weekend, the Premium Room is the sweet spot — a proper king bed, bespoke furniture, and either tower views or a look out over the Royal Selangor Golf Club greens. If you want to treat yourself without going full presidential, the Studio Suite at 43sqm has a freestanding bathtub and a dedicated lounge area that makes the room feel twice its size.

The One Bedroom Naluria Suite at 66sqm is the one we keep thinking about. Walk-in wardrobe, spacious living area, double vanity bathroom. If you are coming to KL for a long weekend and want to actually feel like you live here for a few days, this is the pick.
The Food and Drink Situation — This Is Where It Gets Interesting
Four venues. All of them with actual personalities — not just hotel restaurant names that mean nothing.
Rise & Grind (ground floor) — espresso bar nodding to Malaysian kopitiam tradition.

Tuai + Till (Level 3) — all-day dining with Malaysian café and Western brasserie sides. Farm-to-table done properly.

Sabato’s (Level 25) — retro Italian-American restaurant with 1970s disco vibes. The first and only of its kind in Malaysia.

Four Siblings (Level 26) — the standout spice-themed rooftop bar (named after the four key Malaysian spices: star anise, cinnamon, cardamom, clove). Avant-garde cocktails and skyline views

The Kimpton perks — the stuff they do differently
