Nutmeg & Clove (No.7)
Nutmeg & Clove, led by bar veteran and former Roku Industry Icon winner Colin Chia, has achieved an impressive feat, climbing an astounding 29 spots to reach the No. 7 position.
The bar’s essence is deeply rooted in Singapore’s rich heritage, reflecting the team’s pride in the country’s history. Under the skilled guidance of bar manager Shelley Tai and head bartender Sim Sze Wei, Nutmeg & Clove passionately reimagines Singaporean and Asian flavors, resulting in innovative cocktails. They ingeniously incorporate familiar local ingredients, crafting drinks that eloquently narrate the stories of Singapore’s background.
Their latest menu, “Singaporean Identities,” is a testament to the bar’s national pride, celebrating the city-state’s luminaries through 12 inventive concoctions. The “For The Love of Kueh” drink, inspired by Malcolm Lee of the esteemed restaurant Candlenut, impeccably balances cognac with a smoky Mexican chile-infused distillate, complemented by pandan, coconut, candlenut orgeat, and rice milk. Another delightful creation, the “Fried Rice Paradigm,” draws inspiration from Dick Lee’s song, originally banned for its usage of Singlish, featuring mezcal, toasted rice, green apple, yogurt, and lime.
Not only does the team’s love for Singapore shine through in their drinks, but it also extends to their food offerings. The “Tofu Satay” and “Dry Mee Siam” showcase an authentic taste of Singapore, while the “Rendang Mac and Cheese” harmoniously blend Eastern and Western flavors, providing both nourishment and comfort to patrons.
Nutmeg & Clove’s commitment to their nation’s cultural identity is truly remarkable, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking an unforgettable experience that pays homage to Singapore’s roots.

Sago House (No.10)
Sago House has made an impressive jump to No. 10 this year, leaping up 21 spots from its previous rank at No. 31. And that’s not all – they’ve also earned themselves the prestigious Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award, recognizing their exceptional service experience that leaves guests feeling truly cared for and cherished. Cheers to Sago House for their well-deserved recognition and fantastic achievement!
Meet Sago House, born during the 2020 lockdown in Singapore, a true labor of love by three industry veterans: Desiree Jane Silva (ex-28 HongKong Street and EC Proof), Jay Gray, and Abhishek C George (Spiffy Dapper, among other venues).
With passion and dedication, they meticulously crafted the interior using 80% upcycled materials, giving the place a unique and sustainable vibe. Although the pandemic caused some delays in the opening, they didn’t let it stop them, and even during those challenging times, they managed to serve delightful bottled cocktails to their customers.
As you step into Sago House, a warm and friendly “hello” from the working staff welcomes you, making you feel right at home.
Your name is thoughtfully chalked onto your table, adding a personalized touch to your experience.
It’s no wonder they were honored with this year’s Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award – their attention to detail and genuine care for their guests shine through every aspect of the bar.
Their menu always features six classic styles of cocktails, but here’s the exciting part – the actual drinks change weekly based on the freshest local market ingredients available. One of the recent crowd favorites, the Bubble Bart, tantalizes taste buds with a mix of rum, French herbal liqueur, plum bubbles, and sugarcane. And if you’re feeling a bit hungry, the tasty steak sandwich will be well worth the three-flight stair climb to reach the bar.
At Sago House, it’s not just about the drinks; it’s about the heartfelt experience they offer. So come on over any day of the week, and not only can you try their latest concoctions but also marvel at the fantastic mural created by a talented local Filipino artist, Distort Monsters. Analogue Initiative (No.15)
What a climb! Analogue Initiative has reached an impressive No. 15, soaring up the ranks with a remarkable 22-spot leap.
After much thoughtful planning and determination, Analogue Initiative fearlessly opened its doors during the pandemic. Vijay Mudaliar, the mastermind behind the acclaimed Native bar, brings his unwavering principles of sustainability and innovation to this exciting venture.
From the moment you step in, you’ll notice how sustainability takes center stage. The magnificent aquamarine bar counter, a true work of art, was 3D printed using a staggering 1,600 kilograms of recycled plastic bottles. Even the coasters are thoughtfully crafted from unique recycled materials. But it doesn’t stop there!
The tabletops themselves are made from an extraordinary self-growing substance called Mycelium, derived from a variety of fungus.
This commitment to sustainability extends to the drinks and food menus too. While they’ve expanded their range of spirits to include international selections, the team has ingeniously incorporated ingredients that have a lesser impact on the environment. Imagine carob and chicory replacing chocolate in the delectable ‘Faux Espresso’ Martini. ‘Future foods’ like spirulina and cactus take center stage in some of their most popular cocktails.
One of the bar’s newer focal points is inclusivity, a value that shines through every aspect of the experience. From all-plant-based food options (don’t miss the Nuggetz with curry crack sauce – they’re a must-try) to an exceptionally crafted non-alcoholic drinks menu (the Zephyr and El Mariachi are crowd-pleasers), every palate and dietary preference is celebrated. Even better, all non-alcoholic drinks can be spiked upon request, ensuring everyone can savor their desired flavor.
And that stunning undulating bar countertop? Not only is it a visual delight, but it also thoughtfully dips lower on one side to welcome guests in wheelchairs – a truly essential and progressive consideration in any modern bar.
Analogue Initiative embodies the future of hospitality, setting a remarkable standard for innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity.
