Returning to Jakarta After 10 Years
Embarking on a new adventure in Jakarta at Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue, memories of our last visit flood my mind. Time has passed since we last set foot in this vibrant city, and the transformation is undeniable. From the moment we stepped foot into Soekarno Airport, the changes were evident. With new procedures in place, we found ourselves filling up our information on a website, picking up our bags, and contemplating whether to purchase a sim card or opt for a data roaming package.
In hindsight, we realize that choosing the data roaming package would have been a more cost-effective decision for us Malaysians. The simcard at the airport came with a hefty price tag of around RM90, leaving us to wonder if the price outside the airport was any different.
Regardless of our initial missteps, we pressed on and hailed a GRAB ride to the PIK area. Little did we know where exactly this trendy neighborhood Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) was located.

The Perfect Location
The journey from Soekarno Airport to the hotel was a short, yet pleasant one. We arrived at our destination to find a towering building adorned with the distinctive Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue’s signage. Adjacent to it, a luxurious mall awaited our exploration. Our holiday in Jakarta was about to commence.
The Elegant Design Lobby
Entering the bustling lobby, we were met with efficiency during the check-in process. However, we decided to linger for a while, taking in the modern and elegant design of the Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue’s lobby. Of course, we couldn’t resist capturing the moment for our social media followers.
The Welcoming Suite
As we entered our suite, we were taken aback by its sheer size. A delightful surprise awaited us in the form of a sweet message drawn on the mirror, extending a warm welcome. The hall area boasted a comfortable sofa and two flat-screen TVs, while the room itself featured a spacious bathroom complete with a round bathtub.
PIK Avenue – The Mall Next Door
Situated within a compact area, PIK Avenue houses a plethora of charming cafes such as Paul, Cafe Kitsune, and La Maison, among others. Additionally, it is home to popular children’s brand Gingersnap and fashion giant H&M. For parents seeking respite, there is Playtopia – a designated area where kids can play while they catch their breath. The mall’s expansive space makes it an ideal destination for families to bond over the weekend. True to its promise, there is truly something for everyone.
Brownmilk Deli That Opens 24/7
When you return to the hotel from Pik Avenue, you will stumble upon BROWNMILK DELI, a delightful café that is renowned for its Swiss-inspired beverages and treats. Indulge yourself in their famous Swiss Chocolate Cake or savor their luxurious Hot Chocolate. Did you know that Brownmilk Deli operates non-stop, 24 hours a day?
Authentic Chinese Dinner Cuisine at The Award-Winning Signature Restaurant -Chinese National
Making our way to level 7 of Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue, we eagerly entered The Chinese National – an exclusive establishment that requires smart casual attire for entry. Our senses were instantly captivated by the breathtaking interior design of the restaurant. The grand hallway transported us back to the timeless era of 1920s Chinese elegance, akin to dining with an emperor.
Upon the waiter’s recommendation, we decided to indulge in a variety of dishes at The Chinese National, known for its all-you-can-eat option at IDR288,000 Net/Person*. It was an incredible deal, allowing us to order our favorites repeatedly without any restrictions. The flavors were exquisite and we couldn’t get enough of the Yangzhou Fried Rice, Prawns in Salted Egg Sauce, and Traditional Roasted Duck. As we savored our meal, we couldn’t help but appreciate the ambiance of this timeless Chinese restaurant. It is undoubtedly a culinary experience that every guest should have at this hotel.

Pürovel Spa & Sport gym
The following day, after indulging in the previous night’s feast at the renowned The Chinese Hotel, I felt the need to burn off some calories. Heading to the Pürovel Spa & Sport gym seemed like the perfect solution. Equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym machines that are accessible round the clock, this facility caters to all fitness enthusiasts.
Great Breakfast Buffet Spread at Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue
The Chinese National, where we enjoyed a delightful dinner the previous night, now welcomes us with a delightful breakfast buffet. The spread is truly impressive, offering a wide range of choices that cater to all tastes, from delectable pastries to authentic local delicacies.
The Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue Pool
Taking a moment to relax by the serene pool, we indulged in leisurely activities such as swimming and reading, accompanied by refreshing cocktails from Summers At The Pool. As the hotel is situated near the airport, we could observe the passing flights, creating a unique backdrop for our tranquil afternoon.

Lunch at the Instagrammable Summers At The Pool
For lunch, we dined at a charming restaurant with a vibrant tropical theme called Summers At The Pool. Within the beautiful and breezy setting, we delighted in appetizers like Salted Egg Calamari, followed by mouthwatering main courses such as Iga Bakar Maranggi, Mangut Salmon, and Penne Arrabiata. These delectable dishes filled our hungry stomachs after taking a few laps in the pool or enjoying a rejuvenating nap.
Located in the vibrant city of North Jakarta, Pantai Indah Kapuk, commonly referred to as PIK, is an exclusive haven for the privileged few. This bustling urban area offers a multitude of conveniences, eliminating the need to venture into town for one’s needs. Renowned as a culinary paradise, PIK entices food enthusiasts from far and wide. Nevertheless, for those seeking alternative pastimes, an abundance of activities awaits in this remarkable district.
Amidst an array of choices for dining, amusement, a sprawling park, and even a beach, it was evident that the options were endless. Hence, our decision to opt for Swissotel as our accommodation in Jakarta felt justified.
Escaping the ordeal of navigating through Jakarta’s traffic, we found solace in exploring the PIK area, knowing that everything we needed was within reach.
Exploring the PIK2 on Bike
Embarking on a bike adventure through the bustling city of PIK2, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere. Seeking the guidance of the concierge, we eagerly joined the bike tour, opting for the morning session. Our journey commenced with a leisurely hour-long ride, allowing us to explore the intricacies of PIK. Venturing towards Pantjoran PIK, we halted to capture precious moments at the picturesque pagoda situated at its distant end. Standing sentinel before this ornate structure was an awe-inspiring statue of Goddess Ci Hang Dao Ren, also referred to as Guan Yin Niang Niang
Embark on a journey towards Waterfront Pik2, a bustling area filled with an array of dining options. From sushi to pizza and gelato, this place is a food-lover’s paradise. Our guide recommended trying the mouthwatering “goreng pisang” dish at Rumah Jajan BU Nanik Batavia PIK. As we cycled along the waterfront, we stumbled upon the charming Rumah Jajan BU Nanik, nestled towards the end. It was a delight to savor the “goreng pisang” while admiring the tranquil mangrove view from the nearby bridge. On our return journey, we unexpectedly came across a section where local vendors were selling parrots. It was an amusing sight that left us astounded.

With its intricate attention to detail and Swiss-inspired design, this haven of hospitality brings a touch of Switzerland to the archipelago.
