Sarawak Chamber, Sarawak
Meet the largest chamber cave known in the world! And the second-largest by volume after the Miao Room in China. Yes, that’s huge! If you must know, Sarawak Chamber was discovered in 1981, by three British cavers, Andy Eavis, Dave Checkley and Tony White during the Mulu ’80 Expedition. Located in Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak, the World Heritage Site on the island of Borneo, the chamber is briefly illuminated by dozens of flashbulbs. Also, home to thousands of small birds called swiftlets. There’s an adage stating that the area can fit more than 747 jets, wing-to-wing in the chamber without even touching each other. Ah-mazing!
From locals to tourists, many individuals love to tour around the chamber. Like seriously, it’s so beautiful! But there is something that you should know. The track is particularly challenging which is more suitable for those who have good fitness routines and are experienced cavers. For a complete tour, it would require you for an overnight stay in the chamber and about 120 minutes of hike, overall.
